Lost in Music

Pandora.com is the greatest invention to ever grace the internet.... for me, anyway.  If you don't know about Pandora, you should check it out--especially if music is the only way you can get through the day as a functional human-being.

Pandora is a website that prides itself on being internet radio that caters to your own individual likes and dislikes -- aka -- if you like Katy Perry but can't stand Miley Cyrus, you can ban Miley (thank goodness) and listen to Teenage Dream adnauseum.  When you don't have your iPod to save you, or you forgot your headphones, Pandora is accessible as long as you can get to the internet... my saving grace on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Katy Perry's Teenage Dream album is admittedly one of my biggest guilty pleasures.  Judge me if you have to, but I just can't get enough of her upbeat, hilarious music.  I guess I think it's hilarious because I can't imagine myself taking on a Katy Perry persona, or even liking anything she has to say -- but I'm completely mesmerized by her boldness.  (No, Lady Gaga and her egg have not made my current list of guilty pleasures... I can confidently say she probably never will.  The pointy shoulder/forehead thing at the Grammy's threw me off.  Too bad--I was just starting to warm up to her insanity.)

Right now you're probably wondering why you're wasting your time with my mindless review of trivial music reviews that hold no clout whatsoever, and honestly, I can't give you a good reason to continue reading this blog.  However, the last 24 hours of my life have been more than challenging--and I can't think of anything better to do than keep myself occupied with senseless rambling (while listening to Katy Perry...."do you ever feel/like a plastic bag/drifting through the wind...."--I wanna know who came up with that lyric. Deep.).

So here we go! List-time!

1.  Auto-tune was the best thing to happen to Bruno Mars.  You know what I'm talkin' about if you watched the Grammy's.

2.  The College of Education is trying to hold me hostage, again.  This time, I'm going down fighting. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.

3.  I'm turning 24 in a month or so.  Say what?!  Get me out of college, NOW.

4.  I'm not sure if you can tell, but I'm really bitter today. I even ate a giant brownie and it didn't help at all. What can I do if chocolate doesn't fix me anymore?

5.  In other, more uplifting news, Sarah Balser recently snapped a few engagement shots of me and Tim -- and naturally, they turned out to be INCREDIBLE!   Stay tuned, pictures are soon to come. :)

6.  Wedding planning is going strangely well!  Call me for details. :)

7.  My valentine bought me Mario Kart for the Wii this week.... so fun!  Such a great way to unwind.  I honestly think he bought it more for his own entertainment purposes, but I can still enjoy it anyway.  (You should watch him play Just Dance... hilarious! You'd think a PE teacher would be more flexible.)

8.  Someone please tell me where the word "whatere" came from.  I hear it, and I'm not quite sure how to react.

9.  I got lunch on Saturday with my grandma and grandpa.  They are the cutest! Random fact: my grandma is designing her own outfit to wear to the wedding.  She is so stinkin' stylish that she told me I embarrass her by wearing holey jeans out in public. haha...

10.  This song just popped up on Pandora... so relaxing.  I love how music transforms moments.

    Hey Amanda,

I saw a link to this on your facebook page. Very cool that you have a blog. I skimmed through a couple of your entries. Your entry titled "It's a calling - not a job" is really great. I'm glad you're going to be a teacher b/c you're going to be fabulous!
